Etsy image guidelines

The core rules this checker is built around

Etsy mixes hard policy rules, technical upload guidance, and softer search-visibility recommendations. This checker keeps those separate so warnings about crop or sharpness are not presented like policy failures.

635 px and 2,000 px guidance
Etsy's search-visibility guidance says the first photo should be at least 635 px on its shortest side, and Etsy separately recommends 2,000 px on the shortest side for the best zoom experience.
Thumbnail-safe first image
Etsy does not require an exact 4:3 ratio, but landscape or square first images with enough safe space tend to survive thumbnail crops better than very tall or very wide images.
Transparency and overlays
Transparent PNG areas can render black on Etsy, and watermarks are discouraged rather than treated as automatic policy failures. The checker flags both as warnings.
Policy items stay manual
Ownership, exact-item accuracy, personalized-item first-image rules, family-friendly mature-content handling, and misleading included-item cues still require seller review.
