Amazon's New Multichannel Tools: Prepare Your Catalog Before Connecting

In September 2026, Amazon announced multichannel selling tools in Seller Central. The practical question for a small seller is how to prepare the catalog behind the connection.

What is available, and what is planned?

Amazon says the experience is rolling out gradually to sellers in its U.S. store, at no additional cost for the tools. That does not make every selling or fulfillment service free.

The initial experience lets sellers connect eBay, Shopify, TikTok and Walmart accounts, import and link off-Amazon listings, view sales and orders, and fulfill across channels. Look under Settings for multichannel settings.

Amazon also describes planned capabilities: updating descriptions across channels, generating channel-ready titles and details, and broader profitability reporting. Check your account for what is actually available.

The announcement does not promise automatic photo syncing, universal image compliance, or worldwide availability.

Our guidance: start with a small catalog sample

The rest of this checklist is our practical preparation advice, rather than an Amazon setup requirement. Choose one channel and a handful of products you know well. Include a simple item and a product with variations, so you can inspect both without reviewing your entire catalog at once.

Before connecting, keep a dated copy of those products' current records. Save their listing identifiers, descriptions and image filenames. This gives you something concrete to compare when you review the connected listings, especially if several products share similar names.

Give each sellable variant a clear identity

Create a simple reference sheet with one row per sellable variant. Record your internal SKU, each channel's listing identifier, color, size, material, pack quantity, included accessories and the matching image filenames. Keep identifiers as text so leading zeros survive spreadsheet edits.

Read each row against the actual listing. A blue mug sold individually and a blue mug sold as a pair need distinct records, even if their titles begin identically. If a photo shows two mugs but the description promises one, resolve that ambiguity before linking the records.

Also decide who owns corrections. In a small team, one person can maintain the reference sheet while another checks the photos. A shared definition of what the buyer receives is more useful than a folder full of almost identical exports.

Keep original photos and separate channel exports

Our recommendation is to preserve an untouched original and create clearly named exports for each destination. Include the SKU, view and destination in filenames, such as mug-blue-single-front-ebay.jpg. Keep a short note of the edits so you can recreate an export when the product changes.

Amazon's product photography guidance emphasizes accurate representation and recommends keeping white-background product photos alongside other useful views.

eBay's picture policy prohibits photos that misrepresent the item, added borders, added text or marketing material, and watermarks. A promotional graphic you made for your own website therefore needs a separate, clean photo export for eBay.

For our sample review, open every final export and compare it with the physical item. Check that color corrections remain faithful, the crop preserves important parts, and background cleanup has not erased a handle, cable or transparent edge. Review the exported file, not just the editing preview.

Check the connected result before expanding

After setup, inspect the sample listings on the original channel as well as in Seller Central. Confirm that each linked record identifies the intended variant. Compare visible titles, included items and photos against your saved reference. For existing orders, compare identifiers and status with the original channel's dashboard.

Keep a short discrepancy list and resolve it before adding more products. Expand the sample to an unusual bundle or a recently changed variant next. This makes review manageable and helps you distinguish an old catalog mistake from something introduced during setup.

Prepare your files locally

QuickPrepMedia can help with the file preparation: crop, resize, adjust a background, convert formats and check supported marketplace images in your browser. Your files are processed locally and are never uploaded by QuickPrepMedia. Account connections and listing publication happen separately in the selling platforms.

Start with the products you can verify confidently. Clean records and identifiable photo exports give you a useful foundation for whichever channels you connect next.
