Reframe a video for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, in your browser
Make a product video vertical, square or wide: crop it to fill the new shape, or fit the whole picture inside it with bars, for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts or a marketplace. The video is processed on your own device and never uploaded.

How to reframe a video
Add your clip
Drop in one clip of up to 4 GB. Choose where the video is going, in the tool or in the table below, and the tool starts from the shape that destination names.
Choose the shape and how it is filled
Pick 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9, or the destination's own shape. Crop to fill and place the crop window on the frame, or fit the whole picture with black or white bars. Under More settings you can keep only part of the clip.
Export and download the MP4
Read what will happen, then press Export. Each export stays in its own row with its own download, so you can choose another destination and export the same clip again.
Video shapes by destination
The shape each destination covered here states or recommends for a video, read from its own pages, with stated limits and recommendations marked apart. Where a destination states no shape, the tool keeps your clip's own. Use a row to set that destination in the tool.

Cropping, bars and the export size
A new shape has to come from somewhere: either part of the picture is cut off, or space is added around it. Three ideas explain what the tool does.
Window on the frameFills the shape Crop to fill cuts off the edges
The picture fills the new shape, and whatever lies outside the crop window is cut off. One window applies to the whole clip and does not follow movement, so place it where the product stays in view from start to end.
Crop when the product stays in one part of the frame and the edges hold nothing you need.
The whole frameBars around it Fit with bars keeps everything
The whole picture is kept and scaled to fit inside the new shape, and the space around it is filled with black or white bars. Nothing is cut off, but the picture takes up less of the screen.
Choose bars when every part of the frame matters, such as text on screen or a wide product.
Kept at its sizeScaled to a stated minimum The export is not enlarged without a reason
The export is at most 1080 px on its shorter side, and never larger than the part of your clip it shows, because enlarging adds no detail. Instagram recommends at least 720 px on the shorter side for Reels, but the tool does not scale a clip up to reach it: a smaller clip keeps the size it has.
When you plan to crop, record at a higher resolution than you need, so the part you keep still has the pixels.
One product video, reshaped for each channel
Reels, TikTok and Shorts are watched full screen on a phone, so a vertical video fills the screen and a wide one leaves most of it empty. Instagram states Reels from 1.91:1 to 9:16 and recommends at least 720 px on the shorter side, and YouTube states that a Short is square or vertical.
Marketplaces differ. Amazon recommends 16:9 and 9:16, and with Amazon chosen the tool starts from whichever of them is closer to your clip; a destination that states no shape keeps your clip's own. Each export is kept as its own row, so one clip can become a vertical, a square and a wide version in turn.
Reframing re-encodes the video anyway, so the start and the end under More settings are exact. To join several clips first, trim and join them and reframe the joined MP4.
Reframing does not aim at a file size. If the export is over the destination's size limit, compress it next.
Limits worth knowing
- Reads MP4, MOV, and M4V. Also reads WebM and MKV where the browser can decode the video inside. HEVC (H.265) video can be reframed in Chrome, Edge and Safari, where the device can decode it. The export is always an MP4 with H.264 video and, when it has sound, AAC sound.
- Clips of up to 4 GB. An export can be up to 10 min long and up to 1 GB, and its picture is at most 1920 px on its longer side.
- Reframing always re-encodes the video, which needs Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a computer. In a browser that can't encode video, the tool says so before you add a clip.
- One crop window applies to the whole clip. The tool does not mark the parts of the screen a platform covers with buttons or captions, because the pages read for it do not state them, so keep the product away from the edges.
Reframe video FAQ
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Your clip is read, reframed and saved in your browser, and it is never uploaded, stored or sent anywhere. The page does fetch its own code as you go: the video engine loads when you add your clip. Your video is never part of that.
How do I turn a horizontal video into a vertical one?
Choose 9:16, or a destination such as Reels, TikTok or Shorts. Crop to fill cuts a vertical window out of the frame: place it on the product. Fit with bars keeps the whole wide picture and adds bars above and below it.
Should I crop or add bars?
Crop when the product stays inside the window for the whole clip: the video then fills the screen. Add bars when the edges hold something you need, such as text or a wide product: nothing is cut off, but the picture is smaller. The stage shows the crop window on a frame from the middle of the part you keep.
What shape and size should an Instagram Reel be?
Instagram states a Reel from 1.91:1 to 9:16 and recommends at least 720 px on the shorter side. With Instagram Reels chosen, the tool starts from 9:16 and exports 1080 px on the shorter side when your clip has the pixels. The tool does not scale a clip up, so when the part you keep has fewer than 720 px, the export keeps that smaller size.
Can a YouTube Short be square?
Yes. YouTube states that a Short is square or vertical. With YouTube Shorts chosen, the tool starts from 9:16; pick 1:1 instead for a square video.
Which shape should an Amazon product video be?
Amazon recommends 16:9 and 9:16. With Amazon chosen, the tool starts from whichever of them is closer to your clip, and you can pick another shape. It is a recommendation, not a limit Amazon states.
Can I make versions for several channels from one clip?
Yes. Each export is kept as its own row, labelled with the destination, the shape and how it was filled, and it keeps its download when you change the settings. Choose another destination or shape and export again to add the next version.
Why can't this browser reframe my iPhone video?
Many iPhone videos are HEVC (H.265). Reframing always re-encodes the video, so the browser has to decode HEVC, and some cannot. Chrome, Edge and Safari can on most devices. When a browser cannot, the tool says so and still shows the clip's facts and the destination check.
What to do next
- Trim & join videoNeed a shorter clip, or several joined into one? Trim and join them first.
- Compress & convert videoOver the destination's size limit? Compress the MP4 to what it states.
- Video cover frameNeed a cover image for the video? Save a frame of it as a JPEG or PNG.
- Crop ImageWant your product photos in the same shape? Crop them to the same aspect ratio.
